T.A. Crerar: A Political Life
J. ReaT.A. Crerar's career as a federal politician spanned a period of tremendous change in Canada. In public life from 1917 to 1966, he served under prime ministers Borden, King, St Laurent, and Pearson. The only politician to serve in two wartime cabinets, Crerar participated in some of the major political events of this century in Canada, from the conscription crisis and formation of Union Government in World War I to the conscription crisis and Canada's disgraceful failure to aid Jewish refugees in World War II. J.E. Rea provides insight into Crerar's role as a minister and senator and uses this insider's perspective to explore the Canadian political scene.
