Contains the history of slavery, from antiquity to the nineteenth century, including ancient Greek and Roman slavery, and the law of slavery in the United States as it was in 1848, a few years before its abolition. This book is unique, the best on this topic, and, as the author says, other books that claim to express the law of slavery are merely "abolitionist pamphlets".
